Although Aberdein Considine is a relatively young firm, which has built its reputation primarily on its conveyancing expertise, it offers Trainees the opportunity to experience work in a large variety of different areas of law.

I have spent the bulk of my Traineeship to date in the Firm's small, but busy, Wills and Executries Department, but have also been provided with the opportunity to obtain valuable experience in other Private Client areas.

The Firm has a very hands-on approach and trainees are given a large amount of responsibility right from the start of their traineeships. I started my traineeship with no practical experience of work in a law firm and while the learning curve was a bit of a shock to the system, with the work-load seeming particularly demanding at times, this approach helps to boosts confidence quickly and provides excellent time and task management training. There is also always support from colleagues happy to help.

Outside work, the Firm is particularly sociable. The different Departments have regular nights out and there are also various events arranged for the Trainees and Solicitors throughout the year which all help develop good working relationships with all the staff.

It’s not a traineeship I’d recommend for those looking for a 9 to 5 job, but the rewards and opportunities are there for those willing to put in the effort to go that extra mile, and I have certainly enjoyed my experiences with the Firm so far.
