Prior to commencing my traineeship with Aberdein Considine, I worked part-time in the Firm's Lender Services Department while completing the Diploma in Legal Practice. This not only made the Diploma more relevant, but also made the transition from Student to Trainee much easier. By the time my Traineeship started, I was already familiar with the majority of my work colleagues and more importantly, how the Firm operated. This is indicative of the high level of guidance the Firm provides its trainees with. Trainees are, however, encouraged to take responsibility for their work and will be running their own files from an early stage.

I started my traineeship dealing with Repossession Litigation in our Lender Services Department; this was an excellent environment for learning the basics of civil court procedure and has enabled me to move into the Firm’s Litigation Department, where I hope to stay for the remainder of my traineeship.

The Firm may have a reputation for specialising in residential conveyancing, but as my experience at the firm will testify, there is the opportunity for trainees to work in various legal disciplines and to specialise in a certain field at an early stage, should they so wish.

Work matters aside, the Firm has a thriving Social Committee and encourages all members of staff to get to know each other outwith the office, which ultimately makes the working environment much more relaxed.
