Press Release: Aberdein Considine completes £1million expansion

Leading Scottish law firm Aberdein Considine has completed a £1million expansion across two cities as it progresses an ambitious growth strategy.

A major new legal hub has been opened in Glasgow’s St Vincent Street to house the business’s growing Corporate and Commercial division.

Commercial property specialist Paul Jennings, who joined Aberdein Considine as a Partner earlier this year, will lead the new office – its second in the city.

The firm has also completed the extension and refurbishment of its main office on Bon-Accord Crescent in Aberdeen.

The headquarters is now spread across five buildings on the picturesque street, making it one of the largest in Aberdeen.

Managing Partner Jacqueline Law said the expansion marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter in the history of the firm, which specialises in offering property, legal and financial advice.

“Our growth – both in terms of geography and areas of specialism – is driven by our desire to deliver high quality legal, property and financial services across the whole of Scotland and to work tirelessly to help those who place their trust in us,” she said.

“Demand for the services we offer has been growing across the country, particularly in Glasgow. Paul Jennings joins us with an excellent reputation and a bank of clients which will allow the office to quickly establish itself.

“His arrival – and the opening of the St Vincent Street office – hugely enhances our Corporate and Commercial legal offering.”

Mr Jennings, who lives in the Central Belt but grew up in Aberdeen, has extensive commercial property experience having worked with a number of developers and high street businesses, including Greggs, Austin Reed, Thomas Sabo, Krispy Kreme and Rox.

Mrs Law added that the newly expanded Aberdeen office – now home to 160 legal and support staff – gives the firm a “fantastic new legal headquarters” to anchor itself from.

The move clears the way for two smaller offices – at 413-415 Union Street and Justice House on the adjacent Justice Mill Lane – to be sold off.

All lawyers, legal support staff and independent financial advisers in these offices have now moved to Bon-Accord Crescent.

Mrs Law – who took over as Managing Partner last October – has recently overseen the firm’s expansion into Stirling following its takeover of Muirhead Buchanan.

She said the latest expansion is unlikely to be the last and that the firm’s management still has an “appetite for growth”.

She added: “Last month we were confirmed as the eight largest firm in Scotland, up two places on 2014, which is extremely satisfying given the amount of work which has gone into recent office openings.

“The Scottish economy has been on quite a journey over the past year, first with the Referendum and then the dip in oil prices, particularly in the north-east.

“However, we believe we offer a service which travels anywhere, regardless of the economic circumstances, and we are continuing to look at options for further growth.”

Aberdein Considine – which has a turnover of £20million and more than 350 staff – offers clients a complete legal, property and financial professional advisory service.
