Senior Software Developer

ROLE OF DEPARTMENT      

The software development team is part of the wider IT function, and the team creates and maintains software services. The development team works with LexisNexis Visualfiles case management system, bespoke systems, and third-party data integrations to facilitate business operations. 

JOB PURPOSE

• Complement expert-level development delivery with architecture responsibilities on the Visualfiles platform.
• Formalise architectural standards and provide professional designs within these standards for development work.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Produce and maintain modern architectural and design guidance for the firm’s implementation of the Visualfiles platform
• Lead delivery of key project streams of Visualfiles development work
• Provide Technical advice and guidance to junior members of the team
• Provide estimates of effort in-line with best-practice approaches
• Determine commercial viability and ROI calculations for Visualfiles development work
• Communicate with business stakeholders to determine development approaches
• Break down complex projects into deliverables
•  Enforce development standards within the team
• Work closely with other Development staff and the wider IT team to co-ordinate approaches and delivery
• Lead by example in behaviours, professionalism, and commitment to the firm’s success

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

• Relevant Software Architecture qualification e.g. TOGAF
• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience
• 5+ years’ experience with Software Development on the Visualfiles Platform

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

• Hands-on experience with Visualfiles development, design of solutions, and delivery
• Background in legal IT environments or professional services firms
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

Desirable

• Knowledge of Microsoft Power Platform or other low-code solutions
• Experience with ITIL practices and service management tools
• Deep product experience with Visualfiles and its ecosystem

KNOWLEDGE AND APPTITUDES

Essential

• Experience working in a Professional Services environment
• Good communication skills dealing with a variety of business levels both internally and externally
• Calm and level-headed nature toward conflicts
