Dispute Resolution Senior Solicitor/Associate
Position Type: Permanent / Full Time

Location: Aberdeen

Dynamic, driven and ambitious Senior Solicitor/Associate required to support the growth of our Litigation department in one of the UK's fastest growing law firms.  The team has a wide ranging and successful property, commercial and corporate dispute practice and promotes advocacy and negotiation skills in all areas of dispute resolution.

The ideal candidate will have at least three years' PQE and have a good understanding of commercial and property law issues, corporate law, insolvency law, litigation processes and ADR.  

The role will focus on working with commercial and private clients, and supporting in-house legal departments. The work is challenging, client facing and varied. 


The successful candidate will be based in Aberdeen but will work as part of a larger team based in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Newcastle.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
  • Responsible to: Partner
  • Reliably display sound technical and professional judgement including the ability to analyse risk and justify decisions to clients internally and externally
  • Prioritise work effectively to ensure efficient management of a varied and heavy caseload
  • Understand client requirements and manage cases in line with service level agreements (where applicable) and best practice, demonstrably applying technical/professional knowledge and expertise to provide clear, accurate and commercial direction to clients
  • Develop increased levels of technical and commercial knowledge via training or supervised working practices
  • Advocate on behalf of clients in court hearings and settlement meetings
  • Draft legal documents
  • Meet fee target consistently
  • Work as a team with other members of the department to achieve common goals
  • Build working relationships internally and externally in order to develop business networks, support the growth of  the Firm through business development
  • Raise individual profile and that of the Firm through coverage in the legal press and our promotional material

· Liaison with: Partners, Associates, Solicitors & wider team

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
  • Qualified to practice law in Scotland
  • Diploma in Legal Practice

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Essential
  • Attending court and having a good knowledge of court procedures is a must
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organisation skills and ability to work in a pressurised environment
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines
  • Team working
  • Strong IT skills
