Capital Growth: Aberdein Considine continues Edinburgh expansion

We are delighted to announce significant growth within our first year of operations in Edinburgh.

We are delighted to announce significant growth within our first year of operations in Edinburgh.

We also remain very keen to enhance our legal offering from Scotland’s capital throughout the coming months.

Since opening our first base in Edinburgh in early in 2013, we are delighted that the firm has gone from strength to strength in the city and we are pleased to have appointed four new partners within our Exchange Tower team. Leonie Donald, Graham Scott, Julian Scott and Naeema Sajid have been appointed as Partners across our commercial litigation, trusts and asset protection, residential property and family law departments respectively.

During the last 12 months the firm has also trebled its staff count within the city and we now have a team of over 30 across our two city centre offices.
Our legal office in Exchange Tower on Canning Street has also physically grown by 1,500 sq ft, with an option for an additional space agreed as we look to add further senior appointments to our employment law, corporate, banking, commercial property, private client and criminal law teams in Edinburgh.

We are also pleased to see annual turnover up by 16.7% on our previous financial year, with the expansion into Edinburgh and the surrounding area playing a pivotal role in this significant increase.

Harvey Aberdein, our Managing Partner, believes that there have been a number of contributing factors driving the firm’s growth.

He said: “We established a presence in Edinburgh after identifying a gap in the market. There is little or no competition in terms of national law firms who can look after both private and SME clients and Aberdein Considine can do this, providing a national service that is tailored to specific, local needs.

“We’re delighted to be able to be in the position of continually adding to our team and the four new partner appointments very much reflect the specialism that the firm now holds within the Edinburgh area.

“As a result of the level of court work the firm is currently conducting, both in the Sheriff Court and Court of Sessions, it was a natural decision to establish an Edinburgh base and we are delighted to have had both a commercial litigation and family partner recently join us within the city. This, coupled with partner hires in our residential property team, really has capped off a successful first year.

“Looking ahead, we’ll continue to add senior appointments to the team alongside embracing potential acquisition opportunities that would further strengthen our offering across the Central Belt. We are particularly interested in niche legal practices which could benefit from working with the firm and its infrastructure.”
