HOUSE-HUNTERS will find the view from this luxurious home overlooking Aberdeen Bay hard to beat.

This beautiful, modern, four-bedroom house, close to the beach in Balmedie, has a beautiful outlook and is surrounded by tunning scenery.

Home to retired couple Gordon Blair, 70, and his wife Pamela, 69, for the last 34 years the charming property has seen  more than few changes during that time.

“We virtually knocked it down in 1990 and refurbished the whole place so there’s very little left of the original house,” said Gordon, who worked as an operations manager in the oil and gas industry.

“The whole refurbishment with additions included adding an upstairs and extending the lounge among other adjustments.

“It was a big renovation job. A complete facelift.” Inside the property, the entrance porch leads to a generous lounge with a feature fireplace, a large formal dining room, a beautiful fitted kitchen, a utility room, a welcoming family room and a stunning guest room complete with ensuite shower room.

On the upper floor there is a welcoming master bedroom with an ensuite shower room, two further good-d bedrooms and a modern family bathroom.

“It’s a big place, it’s a good family house but it also has the potential to be a bed and breakfast or something like that,” Gordon said.

“I’ve always thought of doing something like that myself, there’s certainly scope for that if you were interested.”

Decorated in natural and neutral colours the home is fresh and bright.

“We wanted to give the decor a blank canvas feel to it and it’s all been newly done in the last few months,” said Gordon. “It’s light throughout and it creates a nice atmosphere to live in.”

The home boasts a spacious kitchen, with breakfasting island, that is a cook’s dream and a spacious lounge with a wood burning stove to keep the family warm in the winter months. But it’s the room giving the best view of the sea that Gordon says is his favourite space.

“My favourite room is the front room with the large windows overlooking Aberdeen Bay, it’s quite special,” Gordon said.

“The aspect of it is great, the view is brilliant and there’s lots of good light coming through it. I use it as an office so it’s ideal.”

With local amenities just down the road, the property is just a short drive from Aberdeen City Centre.

“You have a school just down the road and there’s a supermarket, a newsagent and a chemist as well so everything is on your doorstep,” Gordon said.

“You’re only ten minutes from the centre of the town if you need to go there as well so it really couldn’t be better placed I don’t think.”

Having both retired, Gordon and his wife are now seeking a sunnier climate by relocating to their home in Spain.

Gordon said: “This has been a fantastic home to us and our family since 1980 but it’s now a great opportunity for a new family to move in and enjoy.”

When the pair make their move to sunnier climes permanent they will look back fondly at their time spent in Balmedie.

“I’ve really enjoyed living here, it’s a nice community and there are lots of friendly people here,” said Gordon.

“I think the convenience of the location is a real advantage as well so I’m sure it will make a family really happy in the future.”
