JAMES and Kelly Craig don’t plan on going too far when they say goodbye to their lovely home in Kintore.
They love living in the town so much, they’re only moving up the road.
The attractive family home on three levels at 5 Edelweiss has been home to the Craig family for eight years.
James, a self-employed project manager, 39, and his wife Kelly, 37, have created the perfect home for their three children, Amy, 5, Jodie, 3, and one-year-old Euan.
“We moved in early 2006,” said Kelly, a teacher at Meldrum Academy."
“We loved the location. It’s in the town so it’s handy for everything but it’s private. It’s a quiet cul-de-sac and really quite peaceful.”
Making the ground floor kitchen and family dining area open-plan was the only notable change the family has made since moving in.
The property is a great space and is decorated throughout in neutral tones with splashes of colour from fittings and furnishings.
“We had opened up the ground floor to make an open-plan family dining kitchen,” Kelly said.
“We’ve had to do very little to it other than decorate.”
The well laid-out accommodation features a ground floor with an open-plan kitchen and family dining room, leading to the first floor which has a spacious lounge and the master bedroom.
On the top floor are three well-proportioned bedrooms and a modern family bathroom.
“Having the three floors is great, it’s something a bit different. The kids love it, they have their own space on the top floor with their bedrooms and bathroom up there,” Kelly said.
“The large living room and family dining on the bottom means there’s lots of space to be together as well.”
With a range of space available the family has the choice of being able to spend some time together or go off and do their own thing.
Bringing them all together, as in many properties, is the kitchen – the heart of the home.
“My favourite room is the open-plan kitchen. I spend a lot of time there as I have a big family,” Kelly said.
“It’s great because there’s lots of space and everyone can do their own thing. It’s great for entertaining too because it opens out on to the garden as well.”
The property has a range of great storage options which makes it easier to keep the home clutter-free.
With built-in wardrobes in all the bedrooms, cupboards under the stairs and a loft area, the family aren’t short of spaces to tuck things away and keep everything neat and tidy.
“It is a very spacious house and there is a lot of storage built-in. It’s been really well thought out,” said Kelly.
“You get a lot of floor space and storage space with this house in the way it’s laid out over three floors.”
Outside the property the rear garden offers another space where the family can spend time.
“We like to spend a lot of time outdoors, the kids love the garden,” Kelly said. “There are different levels and the kids find it really interesting to explore. It’s private too which is a nice advantage to have.”
The family will look back fondly on their time spent in the house.
“We like the area so much that we’re only moving just up the road. It’s a great place for a family, there’s so much going on for the little ones,” Kelly said. “We will miss the house. It’s been great for us as a family.”
