THE space on offer was a major factor in June Calder and Kevin Thomson’s decision to buy a home in Marykirk.
The professional couple, who both work as health and safety inspectors for the Health and Safety Executive, were immediately sold on their lovely five-bedroom property – thanks to both the space and the storage space on offer.
June, 41, who is mum to Poppy-Joy, 2, said; “Kevin and I had looked at quite a few new builds but none of them had the storage and space like this one does. Apart from the house, Marykirk was a big draw to us as it is 15 minutes one way to the hills; 15 minutes the other way to the beach, and 35 minutes each way to either Aberdeen or Dundee.”
Before moving to Marykirk, June and Kevin, 42, had lived in a lovely flat in Gourdon next to the harbour, but when June was six months pregnant they moved to the lovely tranquil hamlet of Marykirk.
With the addition of Poppy-Joy to the household, they have built up so many very happy memories thanks to their precious wee girl.
The property is an ideal proposition for a family looking for plenty of space.
The conservatory is June’s favourite room, offering uninterrupted views over the countryside and high degree of privacy.
June said “I love the conservatory most as Poppy-Joy can play happily all day there with her toys, but once she is in her bed, Kevin and I enjoy sitting there with a glass of wine.”
The location has also proven to be a big hit with the family, and they have enjoyed the lovely country walks on the doorstep as well as the excellent amenities Marykirk has to offer.
June and Kevin are looking to move to Laurencekirk for Poppy-Joy’s schooling.
“If we could only pick the house up and take it with us,” said June.
“But we can’t so hopefully whoever moves in next enjoys this house as much as we have."
