As the market for buying property enters its traditionally busiest time of year any assistance for first time buyers is welcome but this offer from Halifax is quite exceptional and should be considered by anyone looking at buying their first new home.

Under the terms of the new product offering from Halifax and available through the Firms entire   network of branch offices via their independent mortgage advisers the lender will pay the entire stamp duty bill on purchases of between £125,001 and £250,000. This will save buyers up to  £2,500.

In addition to this there is also an offer for first time buyers who purchase below £125,001 as they will not be liable for stamp duty. They will be offered £250 cashback on completion.

Given the demand for finance from first time buyers which is now evident throughout Scotland  there is likely to be a lot of interest in both these deals. With loans available up to 95% of value (fees will apply) and even available on the help to buy scheme we are expecting a substantial amount of interest in the next few weeks for these mortgage product offerings.

This deal will therefore only be available for a limited period. Any first time buyer thinking of purchasing a property would be well advised to seek advice on this deal from one of our independent mortgage advisers (who can also look at all the other options available across the entire marketplace) at the earliest opportunity. Opting to look at only one lender for your first mortgage could be a very expensive mistake.
