Ryan is a Partner in Aberdein Considine’s Stonehaven office.
He specialises in wills, trusts and executries, as well as providing advice on a wide range of private client matters including estate administration, tax planning and asset protection.
Ryan trained with Aberdein Considine after studying at the University of Aberdeen. He qualified in 2008 and became a Partner in 2016.
Estate Administration (Value £1.8M): Estate comprised wide variety of assets, liable to inheritance tax, issues of capital gains and income tax addressed for the administration period, negotiations with HM Revenue & Customs on tax liabilities.
Estate Administration (Value £1.5M): Estate comprised primarily of farming assets and business, liable to inheritance tax, extensive negotiations with HM Revenue & Customs on availability of agricultural and business property reliefs.
Estate Administration: Administration of estate, lifetime gifts deemed as failed potentially exempt transfers and liable to inheritance tax, advice on capital gains tax arising on gifts of heritable property and limited availability of reliefs, negotiations with HM Revenue & Customs on tax liabilities.
Estate Planning and Asset Protection (Value £240k): Advice given to spouses in the protection of assets for next and potentially future generations, establishment of lifetime trust and transfer of heritable property to trustees, discretionary trust Wills (and accompanying letters of wishes) and Continuing & Welfare Powers of Attorney.
Estate Planning and Asset Protection: Advice given to spouses in the protection of assets for next generation in particular ring fencing of assets in trust for lifetime benefit of surviving spouse but with protection for children in case of remarriage by surviving spouse.
Estate Planning and Asset Protection: Advice to spouses in the protection of assets, advising on use of trust provisions in Wills to structure entitlement of a vulnerable beneficiary with disability to avoid prejudicing beneficiary’s entitlement to means tested benefits, preparation of discretionary trust Wills and accompanying letters of wishes.
