Job Description

ROLE OF DEPARTMENT
•To develop and maintain governance, risk and compliance solutions for the Lender Services Practice Group.

JOB PURPOSE

Management, progression and development of the Compliance Team on a daily basis.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensuring compliance with the necessary Financial Conduct Authority requirements, with particular emphasis on the Mortgage Conduct of Business Rules and the Consumer Credit Sourcebook as applicable to the Lender Services Practice Group (LSPG) and the “conduct risk” approach to compliance.
  • Ensuring full compliance with the necessary Solicitors Regulation Authority (England & Wales) and Law Society of Scotland (Scotland) requirements, working in conjunction with the Compliance Officer for Legal Practice (England & Wales) and the Risk Partner (Scotland).
  • Developing and delivering a strategy for the Compliance Team.
  • Delivering key performance metrics and managing targets within the team to ensure governance, risk and compliance targets are met.
  • Leading LSPG’s production of management information for financial services clients, in accordance with contractual requirements set out in the Service Level Agreements.
  • Complete familiarisation with all client service level agreements in place. Active involvement and participation of all re-tender or new tender processes from a governance, risk and compliance perspective.
  • Ensuring all LSPG policies and procedures are adhered to by all team members.
  • Liaising regularly and where appropriate with all key client contacts to facilitate review meetings, compliance audits, training and conference calls.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS
 
Essential
  • Bachelor degree

Desirable

  • A professional qualification in the field of governance, risk and compliance

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

· Experience of the FCA compliance regime
· Experience within the financial services sector
·Team management experience
· Previous experience of preparing and executing presentations to large groups


Desirable

  • Team leadership experience
  • Previous experience of working with corporate or financial services clients
  • Experience of working within law firms or other professional services firms
  • Experience of legal regulation, either Solicitors Regulation Authority or Law Society of Scotland


KNOWLEDGE

Essential
  • Knowledge of the FCA regulatory regime and compliance methods including the 3 lines of defence model
  • Understanding of the role of service providers to the financial services sector.
  • Complete familiarity of all Microsoft office packages and previous experience of working within a bespoke case management system.
Desirable
  • Ability to analyse performance related data and extract and review key findings from
    same  
  • Understanding of the regulated mortgage market from a governance, risk and compliance perspective.
