2.2. The Legal Ombudsman has time limits, in which complaints should normally be made. Normally, you will need to bring a complaint to the Legal Ombudsman within six months of receiving a final written response from us about your complaint and within six years of the act or omission about which you are complaining (or if outside of this period, within three years of when you should reasonably have been aware of it). If these deadlines are not met, the Legal Ombudsman may refuse to deal with your complaint.
2.3. The Legal Ombudsman will consider complaints from members of the public, businesses defined as micro enterprises, charities or clubs with an annual income of less than £1 million, trustees of a trust with an asset value of less than £1 million and personal representatives or the residuary beneficiaries of an estate where a person with a complaint died before referring it to the Legal Ombudsman.
2.4. The Legal Ombudsman may not deal with a complaint about an invoice if you have applied to the Court for an assessment of that invoice.
3.1. We offer Debt Recovery services to businesses. We undertake Debt Recovery services for business clients using both fixed fees and hourly rates which depend on a number of factors, including: the precise work required, the complexity of the case and the value of the debt.
3.2. Costs to commence a single instruction, simple debt recovery case against a single debtor in England & Wales range from £230 to £690 plus VAT and disbursements, which are usually limited to court fees which are listed at: https://www.gov.uk/make-court-claim-for-money/court-fees . This cost includes preliminary advice, issuing a letter of claim and issuing a simple Claim Form at Court.
