Essential Maintenance Services in Scotland - Updated Guidance
Following the recent lockdown measures implemented on 5th January by the Scottish Government, there are a few changes that are important for those in leased properties when it comes to essential services
Changes have been made to ensure the safety of both occupiers and those carrying out the maintenance works in line with the updated restrictions in Scotland
These will remain in place until further announcements from the Scottish Government say otherwise.
What the guidance advises
They advise that only essential works and services should be completed and the following are examples of what would be considered appropriate:
- Utility engineers and telecoms workers (e.g. electricity, gas solid fuel, water, broadband) for the purpose of safety checks, repairs, maintenance and installations.
- Urgent repairs and maintenance - time critical repairs and maintenance that threaten the households health and safety. This would include safety checks for gas, electricity, household appliances etc.
- Delivery, installation and repair of key household furniture and appliances such as washing machine, refrigerator, cooker etc.
- To support a home move, for example furniture removal
