A day in the life of a Associate Solicitor

A day in the life of a Associate Solicitor

  1. What does your day-to-day role look like?
One of the best things is that no two days are the same. Most days start with a review of emails and prioritising for the day, there is usually a mixture of telephone, online and face to face appointments each day as well as weekly meetings with the team. I deal will all elements of residential property transactions but most of my time is taken up with residential sales and purchases. Discussing offers with clients and putting these forward to the selling agent are a big part of the day. The other huge part is contract progression, concluding missives as quickly as possible is always the aim. I also deal with Wills and Powers of Attorney, meeting with clients to discuss their needs, drafting the documents and arranging for signing and where applicable registration.

  1. What is the most rewarding part of your role?
Securing a brand new home for a family or first time buyer, it’s great when people see their dreams realised and you get to be a small part of it.

  1. What tip would you give those buying/selling their home?
If you are looking to buy I would always recommend seeing a financial advisor first, we have in house advisors ready to give concise and clear advice. I would always recommend going for at least 2 viewings too preferably at different times of the day so you can see the property and it’s surroundings more than once. If you are selling be prepared to declutter and have a blank canvas as much as possible, be clear on what you require with your agent and think ahead to what you will do when an offer is accepted and think how flexible you can be for buyers on things like the date of entry and contract terms.
