UPDATE: Scottish property market to re-open on June 29th

The easing of Scotland's lockdown paves the way for the property market to re-open.

Nicola Sturgeon has confirmed the move to phase two of the Scottish Government's route map, which allows people to move home again from June 29th.

Our property branches will re-open on the same day.

However, social distancing measures remain in place - which means some changes in the way we usually work.

Full government guidelines will be published in the coming days  - however, we have already taken several steps to ensure our staff and clients can resume activity safely.

Booking a viewing

We are now beginning to schedule physical viewings, subject to conformation that they can resume. However, we will continue to encourage virtual viewings where possible.

If you want to visit a property, our team will discuss your circumstances with you and check if you or anyone in your household has any symptoms of Covid-19.

If cleared to proceed, we will issue you with an appointment time and safety guidance.

All viewers will be required to wear a face covering and gloves and encouraged not to touch any surfaces.

We will limit the number of people entering the property to two and children or pets are not allowed at this stage.

Attending a viewing

Prior to your arrival, all doors in the property you are visiting will be opened to reduce contact with surfaces.

Cupboard doors will also be opened, and lights turned on in any dark rooms.

If you are visiting the property with one of our viewing agents, they will remain in a different part of the home. Like you, they will be wearing the requisite PPE.

If the homeowner is showing you around, they will be advised to follow the same steps.

Should anyone develop any Covid symptoms between the viewing being booked and taking place, it will be rescheduled to a time when it is safe to proceed.

Virtual viewings

We have invested in the latest technology from the United States to create stunning virtual tours of the homes we sell.

Our Matterport cameras can scan every inch of a room in just a few seconds, creating a 3D simulation that you can walk through using your phone, tablet or computer.

These tours allow buyers to get a real feel for a property without physically entering it, helping sellers to minimise contact with other households.

Even as restrictions are eased, this is the safest way to view homes.

Property valuations

We have also now launched virtual valuations, which allow our experienced property experts to assess the value of your home without visiting in-person.

Using video call technology, you can walk our agents through their home so that we can accurately predict what your home is likely to achieve on the open market.

Physical valuations will also be available again as phase two commences.
