Aberdein Considine strengthens with new senior appointments

Aberdein Considine has strengthened its corporate and business development teams with new senior appointments in Glasgow and Aberdeen.

Michael Currie, who will be based in Glasgow, has joined the firm as a corporate partner from Dallas McMillan, where he was Head of Corporate

He is dual qualified in Scotland and England and Wales and has worked in Scotland and London for both UK and US commercial law firms. Michael specialises in general corporate advisory and transactional legal work in a broad range of sectors, both domestically and internationally.

Recent deals have included acting for the selling shareholders of two different financial services companies in Glasgow and Edinburgh to the same English based consolidator, Succession Group, as well as the share purchase by a French investment fund of a Scottish based renewable company, and an EIS fundraising by a sports software start up.

Graeme Ross also joins the firm as Business Development Director from accountancy firm Anderson, Anderson and Brown LLP where he led the Business Development function for 5 years.

Graeme, who will be based out of the firm’s Head Office in Aberdeen, has spent over 20 years working in the financial and professional services sectors, having previously carried out a business development role in the Commercial Banking team at The Royal Bank of Scotland.

The appointments of Graeme and Michael are a further demonstration of Aberdein Considine’s growth strategy, the main focus of which over the past 12 months has been to bring additional partner-level and senior management experience to its legal business. In addition to lateral hires in Private Client, Family Law and Property during 2017, Aberdein Considine recently announced the appointment of two new partners, Myra Scott and Laura Browne, to the firm’s Lender Services Practice Group, who deal with banking litigation.

Jacqueline Law, Managing Partner, Aberdein Considine said: “We are delighted to welcome Graeme and Michael to the firm. Graeme’s business development experience and connections in the professional services and owner-managed business sector, together with Michael’s transactional experience and expertise in Scotland and England make them a perfect fit for us. This and our other recent senior appointments mean we are well placed to continue to support our clients across Scotland.”

Aberdein Considine are a full service property, legal and financial firm and sixteen of the firm’s lawyers were ranked in the 2017 edition of the Legal 500. The listings were across five legal disciplines – Corporate and Commercial, Commercial Real Estate, Commercial Litigation, Debt Recovery and Family Law, and followed a year of significant, acquisition-based growth throughout 2016, including the opening of multiple new offices in Glasgow and the first expansion into England Wales.
